mnpettinger@mac.com/ Matt Pettinger (I was in Charlie Company with him in Iraq ) I was a reservist with Delta Company 4th Tank Battalion prior to being mobilized and attached to Charlie Company First Tanks for the initial drive on Baghdad. I was a TC in 3rd platoon and very concerned about bringing my crew home and doing my duty as a tank commander. Donald taught, mentored, and kicked me in the rear at times. I only knew him for a few months, but he became one of the closest friends I have ever had. For those of you who were there, the smoke breaks out by the shitters behind the tents were serious times. I will never forget the last time I saw Don at a fueling halt. He was just pulling away with his hog as I pulled up, he looked back smiled and waved. A few hours later he, Tiener, Little Rod, Uday were gone. I will never forget them, none of us who were there ever will. God hold them close, I will honor them for the remainder of my days. All of the Marines of Chuckles Company are and always will be my heros and brothers in arms.

My deepest condolences. May these few words from the Holy Scriptures bring you comfort in your time of grief...
John 11:32-45 32 And so Mary, when she arrived where Jesus was and caught sight of him, fell at his feet, saying to him: “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 Jesus, therefore, when he saw her weeping and the Jews that came with her weeping, groaned in the spirit and became troubled; 34 and he said: “Where have YOU laid him?” They said to him: “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus gave way to tears. 36 Therefore the Jews began to say: “See, what affection he used to have for him!” 37 But some of them said: “Was not this [man] that opened the eyes of the blind man able to prevent this one from dying?”
38 Hence Jesus, after groaning again within himself, came to the memorial tomb. It was, in fact, a cave, and a stone was lying against it. 39 Jesus said: “TAKE the stone away.” Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to him: “Lord, by now he must smell, for it is four days.” 40 Jesus said to her: “Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Therefore they took the stone away. Now Jesus raised his eyes heavenward and said: “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 True, I knew that you always hear me; but on account of the crowd standing around I spoke, in order that they might believe that you sent me forth.” 43 And when he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice: “Laz´a·rus, come on out!” 44 The [man] that had been dead came out with his feet and hands bound with wrappings, and his countenance was bound about with a cloth. Jesus said to them: “Loose him and let him go.”
45 Therefore many of the Jews that had come to Mary and that beheld what he did put faith in him;
Thank You!! / Ken "Grumpy" Kelly I do not know this man; but I know of his kind, and that makes him a very special individual indeed! I know that it took a great deal of effort, skill, dedication and perseverance on Donald's part to become a Marine. And I know that in the course of his career, many lives were in his hands; and vital missions were accomplished because of his dependable courage. And I know that our nation, and the Marine Corp Family has lost a hero; and I sorrow for this, and for all his loved ones. I pray to The God of Our Fathers on behalf of all whose hearts have been wounded by this terrible event. May they be comforted by devine and human love. May they walk in peace through all the days of their lives. Donald you will never be forgotten and I will always be proud to say a brother veteran rests in peace.

It's always painful to see the loss of a great patriot, husband and father. We're uplifted, though, by his legacy of duty and sacrifice. He won't be forgotten. Close
Just passing through and wanted you to know that we are very sorry for your loss. Words cannot take the pain away; but memories are a wonderful way to express our love. We lost our son, Kevin Gaspers, in Iraq on 4/23/07 along with 8 other 82nd Airborne members. We are very proud of the men and women who put on the uniforms of the United States of America and fight for our freedoms!

The Fallen Written by Andrea Senter
They never thought when they left here their families they'd see no more No one dares to think about The high price of such a war.
If you asked them why they did it They'd say because it was right Someone has to stand up And someone has to fight
A world away they defend our cause, as we tuck our kids in bed. Some give all for all of us, And somewhere tears will be shed.
They do not ask for fame or fortune Just that we recognize We are here, free, today, Because the fallen have paid the price.
~THANK YOU DONALD~

I miss you / Debbie Stapleton (Aunt)
I will always remember the quirkey smile and the hearty laugh when you had pulled a prank on grandma. That laugh and smile is greatly missed. I will remember all the jobs we had together and rides to work together. We had some great discussions on cubs. I still watch the games and wished you were here to watch them with me. I also miss our talks. You are greatly missed and I know you are in God's Army now. Take Care Love Aunt Debbie Close

I still hear your famous laugh. I still see your smile. We still talk about things you wouldn't dare tell your Mom! I still see you playing your air guitar to "Ballroom Glitz"! I'm still so very proud of you. I love you and look forward to the day you greet me at heaven's gate. My daughter created a beautiful memorial wall in honor of you...please go see it and then, in your way, tell her what you think! Deborah's doing a beautiful job raising the kids! I know you're with them, too! I'm trying so hard to be strong, but Don, I miss you! See you soon!!!! Close
